Weekend Preview

24/08/2009 - United's 18 game unbeaten run of home games came to an end on Saturday in somewhat unlucky fashion. United were a completely different side to the one that was so poor in midweek with Hampshire; Fawcett; Brown; and Davis returning and debutant Wadsworth all included in the squad but with Gary Collier missing out after a late call up to the Selby Town squad for the trip to Arnold Town.

Huntington led going into the break after just edging a close 1st half. United however came out with belief in the second period but despite constant one way traffic in the 2nd half Huntington doubled their lead when both the referee and assistant made a right mess of an offside decision to allow some what unfortunate goal leaving Riccall with it all to do.

This proved to fire Riccall up more and they were rewarded when John Knowles cut back inside from the line to drive into the bottom corner for 1-2. United threw everything at Rovers but failed to get the equaliser with Fawcett first slamming an header against the crossbar and then being denied by an absolute world class save from the keeper from point blank. United should have had a penalty with moments to go when the Rovers centre half used Fawcett as a climbing frame in the box only for the referee to seemingly bottle that decision similar to one in the first half.

United should take great pride and motivation from the performance against a good Huntington into the game against Kartiers on Wednesday night, 6:30pm kick off.

Match Report will soon be online.

Collier ends season a World Cup winner

06/06/2009 - Pete Collier returned on Wednesday from Thailand where he helped the England Veterans to win the Veterans World Cup. Pete who started his playing career with Riccall and is now departing the club following a successful 2 year spell as player assistant manager - ends the season on a massive high having helped United to the division 1 crown and also lifting the veterans world cup.

The club is very proud of Pete's achievements and wish him all the best for the future.

Collier's Farewell

04/05/2009 - Unfortunately the last game of the season marked the end of Pete Collier's spell as Player Assistant Manager at the club due to work commitments. Pete answered the club's cry for help 2 years ago and scored 16 goals in 40 appearances. Pete was last season's player of the year and leaves after helping guide the club to the division 1 title and back to the Premier Division. The club would like to thank Pete for the last 2 years and wish him all the best for the future.

Bradley: "We've had a great season and I am chuffed with everyone at the club. Unfortunately Pete is finishing though and I would like to say a big personal thank you to him because I've learnt a lot from him. He'll always be welcome back and I hope that the opportunity comes along again in the future!"

Riccall Parish Council Community Grant Scheme

20/02/2009 - Riccall United would like to take this opportunity to thank the Riccall Parish Council after they recently awarded the club a grant of £300 to help cover the cost of Training Course for our volunteers.

The money will be used on 2 new First aiders; 3 new Level 1 coaches; and a new Level 1 Goalkeeping Coach.

Riccall United are still looking to gain further funding to cover the cost of further Training Courses for our volunteers.

Charter Standard Adult Club Status

Charter Standard Adult Club Status Awarded to Club

The Riccall United Football Club commitee are pleased to announce that we have been awarded the adult club charter standard by The FA. This award recognises that Riccall United is a club that is a well run and sustainable club that set high standards in discipline, organisation and best practice. We have been able to develop and maintain our high standards through the combined efforts of the players; management and coaches; committee members; sponsors; and volunteers and fund raisers.

The club submitted the application on the 28th February off their own back but have since learn't that the York Leeper Hare Football League is to be one of the pilot leagues for the Charter Standard League Programme. Our Charter Standard was accepted 22/07/2008 and lapses 22/07/2011

This is an important achievement for this club and it further displays the lengths we are going to on and off the field to develop all aspects of the club. The club is fully commited to the eventual goal of junior football in Riccall and this award partnered with our work with the Parish Council and future work with local schools should provide us with the perfect opportunity for further growth.

The club has also received a small grant from the Riccall Parish Council of £300 to invest in coach development. The club would like to take this opportunity to thank the Parish Council and also everyone involved at the club who helped in part towards the award of the Charter Standard.
